About Me

cop·y·writ·er (kp-rtr)
n.
One who writes copy, especially for advertising.

Hi, thanks for visiting the site. My name is Joe Whitley, and I'm the "head honcho" at Whitley Journalism, a Freelance Journalism and Copywriting organisation from West Yorkshire (UK). If you'd like to know more about the company, read the section below, but if you'd rather hear about me, read on.

Pen and Pad Image

I'm currently a full-time student, taking English Language, Media Studies and Business at A-Level. After my upcoming final exams, I plan to go to Huddersfield University and study Journalism and Media for three years, and eventually become the editor my own publication, well at least that's what I'm hoping for.

I've been writing professionally for five years now, (since I was 13), and what can I say, I love it. I find reporting on sports comes the most 'natural', yet my ever increasing knowledge lets me expand my skills into all areas, thus meaning there's nothing I can't write about.

In my spare time, you'll find me at the gym, the pub, or with my guitar.

I'm a very friendly and approachable person with a great work ethic and self-motivation, don't hesitate to get in touch with me via my contact page if there's anything I can help you with, whether it's taking advantage of a free quote, or you're simply after some writing advice, I'm here for you.

Right! You've endured my little biography. If you're still awake, why not visit the Blog, or look at my online portfolio.

About My Work

jour·nal·ist (jûrn-lst)
n.
One whose occupation is journalism.

I've been writing at a high standard for five years now, and have received critical acclaim from many of my peers due to my free-flowing and innovative writing style.

I began my life in writing at the tender age of 13 at National Club Golfer Magazine, where I was the author of 'Joe's Corner', a weekly golf article aimed at juniors seeking advice and tips on how to get the best out of their talent and their money in the golfing world.

My next and current venture came at the hands of Rugby League Express, a national specialist publication covering all that Rugby League has to offer. I began by covering low-key encounters between amateur sides, but worked my way through the ranks to be reporting on professional sides. To this day, I'm still a writer for the newspaper, and am still adding to my ever increasing portfolio every week. To view any of my articles, just take a look at my online portfolio and browse to your hearts content.

I've been approached for work by many companies in my career, but my big break came when a representative of Sky Sports got in touch. They asked me to report on a Student international between Great Britain and Australia. I obviously complied, and the report was staged on popular Rugby League programme 'Boots N' All', although the video from the show is currently unavailable, the report can be seen in basic format here.

You may have guessed from the above paragraphs that I specialise in sporting events, and you'd be right, but don't leave if you're interested in something else. My skills and knowledge have allowed me to write on a huge variety of subjects to a high standard. Take, for example, one of my most recent works for AMO Blinds and Fabrics Ltd. The company approached me regarding a marketing editorial for international magazine 'Blinds and Shutters', I invested time in research, and with the help of a brief template explaining the main aim of the text, I whipped up a professional and accurate article that was published to great applause.

2007 brought a new horizon for Whitley Journalism. After spotting almost a 'niche' in the copywriting market, I decided to expand and divulge in offering freelance copy to both web and print based companies across the world.

Recent Copywriting clients include PR Consulting and Captain Bratwurst, who both approached me needing an expert copywriting template designed specifically for their sites, (please note that some content on both of these sites are modified by their resepctive owners). If you'd like to see any of the aforementioned work, take a look at my Online Portfolio, which includes links to the sites that have used my copywriting, as well as, a selection of my reports for you to look at.

Due to the brief nature of this bio, you may want to know more. If so, get in touch!
